our local exchange did not get a digital switch until about 1989! Yes, 1989! We're BEL, also. Our local CO didn't convert to all digital until 1998. And we're just 12 miles from NYC. If you wanted a digital line, they rerouted your call to an adjoining CO. But maybe that's what you meant, 1998. Just a typo? <g>
