First of all, my sincere thanks to everyone who has contributed to the Beta process thus far - even the folks that are not yet fans of the New SI. We have made a number of significant improvements during the Beta process, many of which were as a direct result of your feedback and suggestions. For example, some of the changes that we have launched recently include:
* Revised color scheme - out with the brown, in with the grey! * Customization option for stretched or fixed size messages - with or without borders. * A variety of navigation changes to move or add important links. * Added back the Search This Subject only feature - (sorry that one got lost in the first place). * Expanded the quote information at the bottom of the message pages. * Changed the portfolio to automatically adjust for splits. * Added the comparative charts feature to the multi-quotes page. (Originally, we just put this in portfolio tracker. Now, if you enter multiple symbols in the Quotes box, you get a list of quotes and just click the Comparative Charts link to compare.) * And several more good ideas...
Also, I want to assure you that this process will not end. As I have mentioned in other posts, the New SI is just the beginning. Lots more to come.
Speaking of beginnings, we think it's time to take the new SI to the next level, and I wanted to let you know what that means and what we're going to do.
This weekend, as we prepare for the ultimate launch of the new SI, we are going to make some server changes to test capacity and scalability. During this process, at some point, the beta site will be linked to www.siliconinvestor.com and www.techstocks.com, so you will arrive at the new SI home page, and you'll have access to all of the new features, functionality and look and feel. IMPORTANT NOTE: This means that these sites are likely to experience performance inconsistencies and periodic temporary outages as we reconfigure and fine tune the system. In advance, we appreciate your patience and hope you'll keep using the new site, because the traffic will help us with the fine-tuning. Of course, we'll understand if you decide to take the weekend off.
For those of you who wish to continue using the old SI, you can do so by visiting talk.techstocks.com, or by using your old bookmarks (other than bookmarks to the old SI home page). Any messages posted to either the old SI or the new SI will appear on both sites.
I am confident that you will continue to share your thoughts and ideas, and I am equally confident that we will respond positively to your input. Together, we'll continue to make SI the best.
Thanks,
Bryan |
