OT PMS Witch, Sorry i had not read your post before posting a response to blankmind. I still believe that per capita, such indicidences much below American rates simply because it is harder for an insane person to get a gun.

Thanks. Now i know why more people don't have guns in Canada--too much money.

You said, "What we have yet to address is how to eliminate insanity, but we're working on it"

I guess if we solve this insanity problem, why would anyone even dream of buying guns (unless they are hunters)?
The fact that people are willing to spend a fortune to keep this right to own guns tells me that maybe we are insane. No offense.

I would also differ with you belief that the police are against gun control. All i have heard is that police are very much against people owning guns. It would make their work very difficult.

BTW--Those with gun licenses are probably under intense scrutiny by the police. When less people own guns, they are easier to keep tabs on. My uncle bought a revolver (legally) in the mid 1970s in B.C. The police(RCMP) followed him 100 miles to ensure that he was not planning to shoot anyone after picking up his gun. They wanted to make sure he was headed home. Strange but true.
Imagine if lots of people had just bought such weapons at the same time.
