Thanks for creating those charts! If you had done as well for Guinevere as you do for me, you wouldn't have lost her.

Thanks also for the clarification that your comment about the relationship between gorillas and indexes was geared to the short-term outlook.

The two charts are fascinating. The shorter-term chart for Cisco shows nearly an exact correlation between the stock and the index (not ignoring that the stock has far outperformed the index). Cisco's upward and downward movements are more extreme than the indexes, as to be expected, but the correlation between the two is incredibly precise.

That's not the case in the chart showing Intel's five-year comparison with the index. It really is noticeable that Intel's downward moves have been much, much more exagerated than the index and that they happened many more times than would have happened had the stock merely tracked the index. Making those observations, I stand by my opinion that gorilla-gaming strategies don't eliminate the unnerving volatility as the authors suggest.

As always, just my opinion.
