Bryan, I think you misunderstood the "Hot Coffee" suggestion. It was made when it seemed as if you folks had adopted a policy of putting only stock threads on the Hot List. The post is from Catlady:

Why doesn't the "new SI" hot list include the coffee shop threads?
The coffee shop threads are an important part of the social fabric of SI. At least make a separate "Hot Coffee" list.

So, if you have NOT made such a policy decision, there is no need to re-segregate the threads on the Hot List.

BTW, the "Hot List" is not entirely fixed. When you click on the Hot List, true, all the "hot" threads are listed there, and in proper order. But....if you do not click on it, and look only at the abbreviated "Top Ten" list that is on the cover page (or whatever you call that page), you get a different -- and incorrect -- picture. And many people won't bother to look any further. Check it out yourself, and you will see what I mean.
