Vendit, I think the best products for AIM or ICQ users are kid's or teenager products whatever they are.
I notice my daughter always leave her AIM on, she and her friends rarely use e-mail anymore because AIM provides multiple conversation at the same time like a conference call, I witness 15 'callers' in conversation with my daughter and they are all her school friends.
I can't find any other place to sell kid or teenager product over the AIM or ICQ because they practically glue to the monitor (well, this is the summer time, she is only allowed to turn on her tube after all the works are done once in school season).
The market for grown-ups may not be there yet because we rarely have time to be on the real-time conversation all the time but I can see the great e-commerce potential through the AIM and ICQ.
MSFT and YHOO cannot get enough users to their IM because it takes long time to establish a circle of friends.
APPLE is used pimarily in school environment, the pack between AOL/APPLE for AIM is so important because kids establish their connection at school and continue their connection at home using non-apple machine.
I was in Europe lately, their hotel TV is a webTV, you can get onto Web by paying $12/hour, I am not sure where it is connected via cable or satelite but the idea provides a vast market, if AOL can supply AOLTV to 'all' hotel TV, that should be great for their future, plus someone should invent a WebVending machine so anyone can put a quarter in to get access of say 5 minutes anywhere, it could replace regular vending machine in the future...my free idea, no copy right... |
