Gary, if I knew for sure, of course, I would go long first and then short later. But I am not god yet, so I'll have to live with my mortal limitation <GG>.

One of the reason I start short a little early is that if I wait till the last minute I'll might not be able to borrow the shares to short.

And when I feel confident that the stock will come down soon after the momentum is gone, I start to short early and ride the wave. You see, 90% of the time, stocks come down much faster than going up. When the stock starts to slide, it may be too late....

I've mentioned my thought on JNPR once before.
