Global Thermoelectric's site update was specific about their progress in developing an Auxiliary Power Unit , plus a more specific use of an A.P.U. in trucks. The highest priority of the California Clean Air Board is to reduce the amount of particulates from diesel trucks. I interpret this as the diesel S.O.F.C. research is complete. Delphi's announcement (yesterday) of building a new line to produce a new generator for trucks indicates they have a licensing agreement with Global Thermoelectric.

A point of interest is that Delphi was not shy to publicly dispel any misinformation when Toyota publicly claimed the two of them had talks. To me this indicates that if Delphi and Global didn't have a deal Delphi would have done the same thing by now.

I completely agree CH4, the silence of both Delphi and Global Thermoelectric speaks volumes. It is a big puzzle to put together and we don't know how all the pieces will fit yet but piece by piece it is starting to take shape. And thank you CH4 for all the excellent research you have found and posted here at S.I.!

I would like to know more technical info about the Auxiliary Power Unit but I have been unable to access GLE's website during the last few days, how about the rest of you guys?

I believe the term "Auxiliary Power Unit" was also mentioned in one of the news releases between BMW and Delphi. I am quite interested how this APU works, what exactly it does, and what ancillary components or systems it may replace or change around the Internal Combustion Engine.
