I notice the same thing you do. As I am a new 'convert' to the 'New SI', I can't really speak re: past beta versions.
btw, I do very much like the structure of the new SI. It follows a logical top- down approach. The home page shows a synopsis of major indexes - exactly what I want to know first - with the option to drill down for more detail (such as charts). To find out about a company, I search and am presented with basic information about it - stock price details, financial statistics, and a listing of recent articles on it, with options for further information (charting, discussion, etc) all conveniently available. Then I click on discussion, which brings me right here.
Previously, I found myself using SI primarily for discussion. Sure it had a lot of other information, but it usually wasn't quite what I wanted, nor was it quite at my fingertips. So I would tend to use Yahoo Finance for most of that other info.
It appears that most if not all of the info I obtained from Yahoo Finance I can now find where I want it and when I want it, right here in the new SI.
What gnet has done, imo, is turn SI from a discussion site with a lot of additional financial information, to a financial site in which discussion is an important component. This is exactly what I want: the facts first, and then the interpretation of those facts (not the other way around).
