Dow Jones News Service -- March 27, 1997

Antec Corp. To Post 1Q $28M Pretax Merger-Related Chg>ANTC

(An earlier misstated the period being compared)

ROLLING MEADOWS, Ill. (Dow Jones)--Antec Corp. (ANTC) will take a $28 million pretax
charge in the first quarter related to its merger with TSX Corp, and expects its first quarter
revenues to remain flat compared to the $121.3 million in fourth quarter revenues. The company
said it expects first quarter revenues and earning to be below analysts' expectations.

First Call reported five analysts projecting Antec would earn nine cents a share in the first quarter.

In a press release Thursday, Antec said the charge reflects operational and personnel changes
related to the merger that should reduce the companies' combined expenses by about 10%.

Antec earned $2.6 million, or 11 cents a share, on $162.4 million in revenues for the first quarter a
year ago.

Antec is a communications technology company.
