TK2 and PMS Witch...really interesting OT discussion on guns and crime here and there. Love the story about the police following your uncle a hundred miles. Also was interested to hear the cost of registering a gun--that would be a great deterrent. We have too many guns here and too easy to get them, but we also have the most amazing violence as a kind of cultural mythos. Went to see this lovely movie The Red Violin the other night, and one of the previews was for a new movie with Brad Pitt starring, I forget the exact title, but it was all about...if life isn't working for you, then FIGHT. It was about nothing but violence as a response to frustration. And it was basically directed to teenagers and young adults. We're getting so inured to this kind of stuff, and I think the culture itself is insane, which more easily hijacks those who are slightly insane. Jill
