I do fess up that I never, ever, not once thought about where bleach comes from.

Have you thought about where tar comes from? I never had, but I looked up tar, wondering why they call sailors that. It's short for tarpaulin. Which makes no sense to me.

But about tar: : a dark brown or black bituminous usually odorous viscous liquid obtained by destructive distillation of organic material (as wood, coal, or peat)

As Mel would say.. Gross.
