The beleaguered technology sector may enjoy a "re-invigorating" effect next week as a key investment conference is scheduled.

BancBoston Robertson Stephens is set to open its four-day "Investing in Innovations" conference on Monday. More than 150 public and private companies are scheduled to give presentations to money managers.

"I think it'll have a soothing and revitalizing effect on some of the stocks," said John Rohal, the bank's director of research.

The conference "will remind investors of the tremendous business opportunities and growth prospects" for many of the technology companies, Rohal added.

Among the companies that will be hoping to catch investors' attention at the conference: AOL (AOL: news, msgs), Amazon.com (AMZN: news, msgs), CNet (CNET: news, msgs), PriceLine (PCLN: news, msgs), Knight/Trimark (NITE: news, msgs) and Ask Jeeves (ASKJ: news, msgs).
