GUMM proponents generally believe that the NEJM studies will be printed but we are not pinning all our hopes on it. In the near term we are concentrating on the fact that Zicam will be in over 40,000 stores for this cold season. The rhinovirus has many serotypes and they are indeed not the only cause of the common cold, just the majority of cases. If I had a cold and I knew that most of the cases were caused by viruses attacking by this mechanism, and I could likely get rid of it by using Zicam, I would spend the $10 or so to find out. We think other people will, too. If it doesn't work for the majority of people, the stock will not do well. If it does, it will. The blockage of the ICAM has been proven as the pathogenesis of such viruses. That is why Tremacamra (a soluble intercellular adhesion molecule made by recombinant methods) works.
