It's Greece willed to Rome. Or Rome sacked by them Vandals or Berkeley undergrads or whoever it was. Exactly what is going to distinguish SI? And who would pay for it? ALL of that financial crap is available 1,746,3239,839534584670 places. Of course, GO2 might not be getting paid for it.

If you don't have your own selection of customized info in bookmarked windows, I'm sorry, but you're an idiot.

Don't tell anybody I said so, tho.

We KNEW they were going to want their 30 million back. PERIOD.

I was proud of those Dyer boys.

If they didn't have an incredible sense of design and order, there would have been NO difference between this and a hundred other sites. This would not have grown into this. Do they think we MAGICALLY migrated here? We migrated to the beautiful and balanced and mentally proportioned place the Dyers designed! They think that's an effing joke! That IT doesn't exist! That it isn't REAL! They think they're going to get us Greeks in Jackistan!

What cohered us all here? Discernment. It's a vote, with allegiance by appearance (and subscription). Tens of thousands of people have already searched the Net, found what has been the site with the best qualities, and lo and behold, each other. That is incredible market research. (Is it worth 30 million? I don't know. Probably not, realistically, if this is the handling it engenders.)

You build it, they will come; you fuk it up, they're goners.

They think they can differwrench with it. That the discernment is a transmutable part. That the organization and appearance and basic character of SI can be changed, and the discerning will follow.

They have every right to change it; they bought it.

It's certainly not what I would do with my assets. My PROVEN reserves. Stock sites are a penny a million.

There is a story, in the East, about a man who inherits a woodlot of sandalwood trees. They are worth a FORTUNE as sandalwood. They will support generations of people. He doesn't know anything about Sandalwood; and cuts them all down for firewood.

I'd pay 100 or 120 or whatever it is a year. We may have to do that. We may have to start our own place. Not because they won't let us keep this one; but because it's failing.

Can someone compete with SI, offering less? I bet they can. I bet they will, if GO2 fux up. This whole thing "really happened" in what ~ 3 years?

I'm willing to pay.

If they don't think there's going to be a place where people will go for intelligent stock and coffee discussion, then we're doomed here. And it looks like that's what they think. They'll be okay with "letting us go." They'll get the Yahoo numbers they want. MAYBE.

It's the 30 million dollars, and the revenue to cover it, we're up against. It's the source of this problem.

But to try to integrate what they bought ~ uniqueness, style, and intelligence ~ with something it's not, is only going to kill the Artwork and market they bought.

It is true that I am "grandfathered." I don't know, I actually doubt, I would pay for the Differwrench. So I know others won't. I wouldn't expect them to.

I think a poll of grandfathered users would show that they would easily be willing to pay for the classic.

Maybe time to be thinking of a Declaration of Independence, a Bill of Rights, and a "New World".

I only say that because I don't see how we'll get out from under the Crown's levy of taxes and profit on the 30 million valuation.
