Bingo. New features could have been added without clutter, and colors changed without making them do those things you described. Yah, it's more than not liking them (which I don't) but it is their effect on the visual experience, and that, upon the brain. This is something that people will look at for hours at a time, so, imo, that should have been a primary consideration in layout and color decisions.
I did blurt out "ugly". That could hurt feelings, I reckon. But, honestly, I was stunned by it. And if were simply a matter of not liking colors or layout, I doubt I would have said, as that would be purely subjective. But I really don't think the effect of the heavy colors and the layout are subjective. I think you explained it well, and that is something that will effect a good many people. And maybe a lot of others have simply gotten used to looking at such sites on the net. I don't think that's a good thing. |
