I don't know what to make out of it, the
market's reaction has certainly been tepid.
Elan purchased $12 million of Targeted
Genetics convertible exchangeable preferred stock.

Begin banter mode.

I see those words and shudder...but maybe it was
done well enough to protect the common shareholders.
Certainly anything that freshens up their cash
position is a good thing.

As far as playing with these little biotechs, I'm
just about out of words--essentially at my breaking
point. I've been punished in one issue in particular,
probably due to the combination of a floorless convertible
and the shorting of the common it attracted.

Meanwhile, the large biotechs are really doing well in
this market. I suppose I should not have been so naive
to think biotech would be the sector that escaped the
"gorilla game". People just love those big caps, safety
(or delusion) in numbers.

You will know when my stop loss is hit--I think it's
just seven or eight grand away. Poof! I'll be gone from
these threads.
