Re: Timna will be next year as Intel's PC on a Chip

Didn't know that timna had two integrated drdram controllers. Despite the frequent complaints about integrated video, I've used it on a number of machines and found it a reasonable price / performance compromise.

If the price of drdram comes down, timna could be a winner.

Integrated video has traditionally been viable only on entry level PC's. Maybe such a memory interface will let timna do somewhat better. How likely do you think it is that drdram's premium will be offset by integration savings? Is a mobo with two 400MHZ 16 bit memory busses cheaper to build than one with a single 133MHZ 64 bit memory bus? If timna is competing with SiS's new chipset, or someone else's integrated solution, the integration savings are lost but the expense of the dual rambus modules and buses remain, but I would expect superior video performance from this integrated solution relative to say, the SiS board. Is this market willing to pay the premium?
