My original point had nothing to do with claiming innocence. Cheap shot or not, I WAS doing 55 in a 45. Tough Luck Dept.

The subject of the moment was taxes -- I noted that a speed trap was a form of tax -- we're talking about major revenue in the Hardeeville case.

Thousands of dollars were forked over by drivers who bothered to show and plead innocent the day of my "trial". The hearing officer announced right off the bat that we could plead guilty, innocent or get in line by the door on the left and, in effect, plea bargain for a charge that would result in fewer "pts" on our license as long as we paid the money and were willing to speed things along.

I FEEL certain the vast majority of "offenders" simply mailed in the money.

IMO, speed traps suck and I have the feeling you would have no problem being a part of one.
