EBAY is a good company to own period (at least for the long haul). Quarterlies won't be released until April or so (must check their quarterly earnings calendar), so I'll keep an eye on their "business" during that period.
Frankly, none of the items I listed will probably fly out the EBAY door, since few will have any real need for those items after Y2K, though EBAY does charge and "insertion" fee along with other small fees that may bubble up their quarterly revenue.
For awhile I thought about hording many of the items listed including champagne, then letting them go on EBAY JUST BEFORE Y2K for those who had second thoughts about their preparedness at the last minute (or even in the event of a post-Y2K catastrophe), but it's a shady thing to do, and it's a capital-intensive bet, i.e. I'd have to buy all those items and withhold them, in the hopes an emergency panned out. I'd feel too "sticky" and anti-Christian doing that (here come the witty flames from others).
You may want to formulate a trading/investment strategy for shorting though, esp. for the months preceding Y2K. Once again, Y2K rolls over on mid Friday (depending on your location on the earth), when everyone should be chilling the champagne and dropping the anchor.
