Dell Offers Exceptional Value With Lowest Priced OptiPlex PC
OptiPlex GX100 Provides Solid Performance, Reliability and Manageability For $829

ROUND ROCK, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 2, 1999--Dell Computer Corporation (Nasdaq:DELL - news), the world's leading direct computer systems company, today announced the OptiPlex® GX100 PC, the company's lowest priced desktop PC for corporate and institutional users, starting at $829.

The OptiPlex family of PCs has been recognized repeatedly by several PC industry publications. Most recently, OptiPlex PCs received PC Magazine's ''Readers' Choice'' for Service and Reliability and PC World's ''World Class Awards -- Best Corporate Desktop PC.''

The OptiPlex GX100 hardware configuration priced at $829 includes an Intel® Celeron(tm) processor at 400MHz and the new Intel 810 chipset, 4MB dedicated graphics memory, 32MB SDRAM, 4.3GB(a) hard disk drive, integrated 3COM® 10/100 networking and 1.44MB floppy disk drive in a small form-factor desktop with a 15-inch (13.8-inch v.i.s.) monitor.

The OptiPlex GX100 provides flexibility and outstanding serviceability in three system configurations -- mini-tower, low-profile desktop and the recently introduced small form-factor desktop -- all of which share a common systemboard. Based on the award-winning OptiFrame® chassis, the OptiPlex GX100 systems features tool-less entry for quick disassembly and reassembly. All OptiPlex systems come with a standard three-year limited warranty(b) with next-business-day onsite service(c).

Other features include Intel Celeron processors up to 500MHz, up to 512 MB of SDRAM, SMART II Ultra ATA/66 hard drives up to 13.6GB in capacity, integrated Intel 3D graphics with Direct AGP technology, and enhanced manageability and security.

The OptiPlex GX100 includes enhanced manageability as part of Dell's OpenManage(tm) systems management strategy that can contribute to reduced cost of ownership for business and institutional customers. Features include: Wired for Management (WfM) 2.0 with Web-based enterprise (WBEM) support, Desktop Management Interface (DMI) 2.0s compliance, enhanced SMART II technology, remote wake-up and remote system alert capabilities, Asset Info (cost-of-ownership management information format) and remote boot support with multiple protocols.
