Based on those numbers there are currently 300M people/1000 = 300,000 * 94 internet servers/thousand people = 28.2 M servers in the U.S. ? That comes down to 1 server per every 10.6 U.S. citizens ? I find that a little on the high side ? ...

Growing to 232/thousand by 2005 = 69.6M servers in the U.S. which comes down to 1 server for every 4.28 U.S. citizens ? Both numbers seem very large and I'm interested in figuring out how the initial number of servers/thousand were calculated.

The numbers in general show a ~150%+ growth rate over 5 years for internet related iron if things continue at the current frenzied pace. If this data is true and Sun can maintain it's hold on being the internet vendor of choice then server sales would give them at least a 15-20% + per year growth till 2005; as other vendors will take some of that pie.

Thanks for supplying numbers ; I'm glad somebody is trying to quantify server iron sales!!

Cheers
James
