Assyria- Lost in time & History. JPR: I was looking up something else and found these 'semitic' people obviously forgotten by both time and history. I take it Syria was part of the ancient Assyrian 'empire',at least for a time and hence the abbreviated name Syria from Assyria.From reading some of the information on these people I found out that now ancient Assyria is part of Iran,Iraq,Turkey and Syria.
