Greg,
Buying the 40 puts to off set the risk of selling the 45 puts is the idea. To get the 5 point spread almost 100% covered is what makes the transaction unique and extremely unusual. Normally the price spread between the bid and ask prevent this type of transaction. If I could find spreads like this I would play them, but not on the scale this guy did. My nerves are good but not that good.<g>
