IRVING, Texas--(BW HealthWire)--Aug. 2, 1999--Insurdata Incorporated and UICI-A have been selected to provide the technology and services to support the first offering of dental/vision insurance products online via the Worldwide Web.
The e-commerce application will offer customers a paperless process for purchasing dental and vision insurance as well as for filing and tracking claims.
Insurdata, a leading provider of advanced technology solutions for healthcare administration and UICI-A, a leading third-party administrator, will support an agreement between HealthAxis.com, Inc. and Security Life Insurance Company of America to offer Security Life dental/vision insurance products for both the individual and group markets throughout the HealthAxis.com network of Web sites. HealthAxis.com customers in 41 states will be able to purchase Security Life dental/vision insurance products online exclusively through HealthAxis.com's fully interactive Web site, and through HealthAxis.com's exclusive distribution partners, which include AOL and AOL.COM, Lycos, CNET and Snap!. The companies also expect to expand distribution of Security Life dental/vision insurance products to customers in additional states.
To make that happen, Insurdata will provide the technology to allow UICI-A to download, integrate and process application data. Customers will also be able to follow the status of their claims and determine eligibility via the Internet and Insurdata's Insur-Claims software. The Internet connection will be accomplished with Insurdata's Insur-Web, the company's underlying technology platform for Internet enablement.
Customers will be able to choose from 11 different dental or vision plans offered and submit their enrollment application online. Once Security Life approves the application, the information is sent via Insurdata's Insur-Admin system to UICI-A for processing. UICI-A will have online capability for premium payment to be made via a major credit card or individuals may select payment through their checking account. In addition, insureds will be able to check on claim status and eligibility via Insurdata's Insur-Web technology.
