MindSpring and OfficeMax Announce Multi-year Marketing Agreement

ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 2, 1999--

OfficeMax to Distribute MindSpring Internet Access
CDs in Retail Stores

Leading Internet Service Provider, MindSpring Enterprises Inc. (Nasdaq:MSPG), and
OfficeMax, Inc. (NYSE:OMX), a Cleveland based office product superstore operator, today
announced plans to distribute co-branded MindSpring/OfficeMax CD-ROMs in all OfficeMax
stores in the U.S. The CDs will be available in late summer and will contain the latest
edition of MindSpring's Internet access software.
"Partnering with OfficeMax is a natural fit for MindSpring as we continue to expand
our product offerings to meet the needs of the small office and home office market," said
Andy Held, MindSpring's manager of channel sales. "OfficeMax has more than 880 stores
nationwide so this a terrific opportunity for their customers to have easy access to
MindSpring."
"The addition of MindSpring Internet access to OfficeMax's service offerings allows us
to provide our small- and medium-sized business customers a one-stop location to acquire
the computer hardware and services needed to connect their organizations to Cyberspace,"
said Michael Feuer, chairman and chief executive officer of OfficeMax.
Under the terms of the agreement, MindSpring and OfficeMax will create co-branded CDs
that will allow home users to sign up for a variety of MindSpring Internet solutions for
home or office use. A special MindSpring access panel will place consumers just one
click away from the OfficeMax website, www.officemax.com. Users will also receive a
special 30-days free trial and waived start-up fee that is a $25 value.
