Eric, I would agree with your assessments concerning the 'net's inevitable supplanting of the older forms of delivery, were it not for the staunchness of CableLabs and the MSOs' need to fulfill the dream of the mid-Nineties which I alluded to earlier. Of course, there may have been some changes in this which I am unaware of. Do you know with any certainty that the MSOs have altered their interactive channel delivery plans, utilizing the upper end of the spectrum?
And if what you say is true, then how do you rationalize the separations between any individual MSO and ATHM? What then separates or distinguishes them at that point, if the MSO's services are doomed to such effects of technological revolution?
From my perspective, I could argue that just the reverse dynamic of conflict happens, then. I.e., the MSOs begin offering 'net based program and content in competition with the delivery schemes of ATHM. Something's gotta give eventually, somewhere.
