Well, without shorts there's no 100% guaranteed market for shares, eh? It's likely, IMO, that many shorted in anticipation of the last issue, and got burnt, at least I like to think that....Choppiness seems to come with the territory with turn-around stories--witness the charts of PLT, DEN, GTA, MPI, etc.--confidence ebbs and flows, in the microcosm of attitude toward the individual firm and the macrocosm of general market feeling. Re shorts--in this country there are many covered and hence undeclared shorts, or at least that used to be the way....I don't really think shorters have any effect unless they gang up to absolutely drive the price into the ground, and in the case of PLT, the ground isn't very far away, what would they hope to gain? This is a take-over prospect, IMO, and a big short position could hand it over as an even better deal than it already is....BTW, have you noticed Cambridge this morning (CBG) is down on the sale news? I thought it should be up, and I may pick up a little. News is on Canada Newswire, I think.... |
