Good post, Randy, and I appreciate it. It is clear that you can teach us a lot about Taiwanese history. I barely remember Quemoy and Matsu. I look forward to your future posts.
But, you're wrong on Mary's racism. If she had used any of the facts of the case to present her position, I'd never have gotten involved in the discussion to begin with. I don't want to get into a "did not, did too" contest about her prior posts, but will only say that I know I'm not the only one who thinks Mary's opinions are more race-based than logic-based. Take it or leave it. I'm not arguing the facts of the espionage case, because I don't have any facts other than what's in the general media. My whole dispute is with the "political correctness" of some of the opinions presented here, and their obvious illogic.
If I seem to you to be "spoiling for a fight," you misunderstand me. A 'fight' is furtherest from my mind. I just don't want political correctness to be forced down my throat or to be used to intimidate other posters on SI.
Again, my compliments on your well-written post.
