To a certain extent, you are right.
However, I suspect that no civil war will occur anytime soon, maybe in our childrens childrens lives. Several things will have to happen before such a conflict would occur. However, your sentiment echoes a lot of other. The only reason I believe people come to such a conclusion is due to the extension of the federal and state government into all aspect of our lives and the further separation into two distinct class structures, (ie the haves and have nots). However, since the economy is doing well and generally everyone who wants a job can get a job no such thing would happen. Let the economy get bad, tremendous job cuts, inflation, continued governmental extension into personal choices, etc. Something like that would definitely happen.
