Donald, the data bit increase is due largely to higher bit density, so one needs fewer heads to read so many more bits, IMHO. The GMR transition is still in "infancy" and relatively low yields, one would expect that as the industry goes down on its learning curve, the same equipment (with help with additional metrology) will yield higher production rates.
