Ron, I think you will agree that it is important to be accurate when making simple statements such as <<Btw, John Huang was Taiwanese.>>
John Huang was NOT Taiwanese at the time he emigrated to the United States. He was born in Fujian province in China. His family fled to Taiwan as the Communists were achieving victory on the mainland. He was thus considered a "mainlander" while living in Taiwan. Native Taiwanese-Mainlander polarization is no longer as prevalent as it was during the time John Huang lived on Taiwan.
I don't mean to pick on you personally, Ron. I just grow weary of reading so many outrageously untrue "facts" that get bandied about, or accepted without comment, here and elsewhere.

While I have your attention, you have made some particularly astute observations about the activities of Wen Ho Lee, and appear well-versed on the subject matter. Can you name any other time in recent history that the United States government has publicly singled out an individual as a probable spy without filing any charges against that person? As you say elsewhere on this thread, it is most unusual for "dirty laundry" to be aired in this manner. Other than providing a convenient scapegoat for a series of oversight problems caused by an inattentive administration, I can't imagine what useful purpose has been served. Regards, Randy |
