Aw, c'mon, guys. This stuff is simple....<gg>....

What this means is that by imposing a few more orthogonal codes on top of the system and using a TDMA type system, where by one user captures the entire bandwidth for a burst, the actual thruput and data rate of the system can be improved. Hence peak burst rates of 2.4 Mbps can be acheived with this system.

This whole patent describes an entire mathematical system which when taken together makes this stuf work. There is also an entierly new Turbo code Viterbi decoder in the system.

The good news is that this is entierly waveform compatible with the IS-95 and CDMA 2000 systems and it uses the SAME RF as those do. So the only modifications to the phone is to change the DIGITAL ASIC. This also means that any IS-95 and CDMA2000 system can be retrofitted or enhanced to include this system for little cost (1000's of gates added on the digital silicon real estate of the existing 1M gates today)
