Loyalty to its shareholders... That's a novel idea. I've yet to see a company which actually gave a hoot about its shareholders' opinions; the stockholders whose opinions are taken seriously are the institutional investors, since they're the only ones with enough shares to influence a company. Further, loyalty is a two-sided coin. The day investors show loyalty towards the companies in which they invest, we may see some reciprocation. How loyal are we shareholders? We buy stock... a) stock price climbs: we sell and run away, chortling happily b) stock tanks: class action suits. Some loyalty. Nigel.
