NEON Development Partnership with IBM Continues to Flourish

DENVER, Aug. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- New Era of Networks Inc. (Nasdaq: NEON) announced today it continues to expand
its joint MQSeries* Integrator 2.0 product development activities with IBM (NYSE: IBM).

"IBM and NEON remain committed to providing even more powerful EAI solutions together worldwide," said Bill Reedy,
vice president of marketing, transaction systems, IBM Software. "IBM and NEON's relationship is a winning combination,
designed to meet the high demand for EAI software and services."

IBM and NEON's Relationship

IBM and NEON have a technology partnership. The companies jointly market MQSeries Integrator. IBM and NEON sell
MQSeries Integrator on their own. Previously marketed by NEON as MQIntegrator**, IBM MQSeries Integrator uses
NEON's advanced rules and formatter engine closely integrated with IBM's MQSeries. Both IBM and NEON contributed
functionality to MQSeries Integrator 2.0, the industry leader in message broker capabilities. Now, as part of IBM's Business
Integration portfolio, MQSeries Integrator will generate new opportunities for IBM business partners to provide tools, utilities
and services to capitalize on the tremendous growth in the message-oriented middleware market.

MQSeries Integrator 2.0 was recently introduced by IBM. The product will build on the successes of version 1.0 and include
new functionality from both companies. MQSeries Integrator 2.0 will have provisions for plug-ins, message warehousing,
database enrichment, a visual layout of message flow, additional publish and subscribe functionality, and more. The product is
scheduled to ship in the fourth quarter of 1999.

The system will feature a modular architecture and be designed to solve any Enterprise Application Integration (EAI) problem
for any organization. It will be more powerful, easier to use, and offer a visual configuration tool. In addition, it will provide
comprehensive XML support, enabling new XML-based systems to integrate with old legacy applications.

NEON is scheduled to deliver additional adapters for MQSeries Integrator. In the third quarter of 1999, NEON is scheduled
to deliver adapters for Siebel and i2; a significant upgrade to NEON's SAP adapter and NEON's PeopleSoft adapter; and
adapters for XML, HL/7, EDI, datastreams and screen animation.

"EAI is a big problem that no single company can solve," said Rick Adam, CEO for NEON. "NEON and IBM can provide
comprehensive solutions to their joint customer's toughest integration problems."

NEON Expanded ISV Program

NEON will launch an expanded joint application developer and systems integrator program for MQSeries Integrator,
scheduled for the first quarter of 2000. Over 20 companies today already support the EAI product, such as PeopleSoft, SAP,
Forte, Extricity, CrossWorlds, Candle, SWIFT, Sungard, Tivoli Systems, IBM Global Services, Ernst & Young, KPMG,
Andersen Consulting, PricewaterhouseCoopers, EDS and Cambridge Technology Partners. This program will allow additional
vendors to build adapters complementary to MQSeries Integrator and produce other value-added products.
