When you get your generator please don't forget to have a "manual transfer switch" in place. I did that for both of my diesels and tried 'em out -- works great. My family had a Y2K weekend recently; did "without" -- whatever we had "stored" for Y2K was the only items/tools we used. I also have a manual pump for my well-water (with purification system). We "shut down" electric and water was plentiful...and healthy. Also a good idea to have a microscope handy to check for bacteria if anyone is planning on purifying their water -- just because a company says their system works doesn't mean it does...
Be Well,
Lorraine
