I don't think so. This guy was a greedy sumbitch, who probably killed his first wife for the 600K insurance money. Daytrading would have looked like easy, quick money for the uninformed. The way I hear it, the guy's whole problem came from a margin call. So you've got a guy with little in real assets, trying to get rich quick on borrowed money. Not too bright. Not saying daytraders are greedy, but the ignorant may perceive it as a way to new found wealth. His daytrading was a symptom, not a cause.
