Time was when it was possible to live in the Dupont Circle area. (I lived there in my undergraduate days.) But there is nowhere to park your car! And it has become expensive, like most of the other areas you have mentioned (especially Georgetown, and Foggy Bottom, where the barbershop I used to live over, and the other "lower class" landmarks, have been torn down). Well, maybe you can afford it. :-)
