Hello Janice re:BRE-X and the gold market in general

The Royal Trust Precious Metals Fund fell just $0.37 to $9.56 or approx. 3.97% yesterday....not as bad as TD Precious Metals fund which was down 12.92% or Bank of Montreal's fund which was down over 10%.
Royal Trust held just 1.5% of its fund in Bre-X compared to the 6% TD held in its account.

However, it remains to be seen what todays massacare in the Gold and Precious metals index had on the funds. The index was down over 900 points or just over 8% so the funds should be down about the same (I'll find out at 6:00 p.m from royalbank.com).

I sold 25% of my holdings in the fund two weeks ago at $10.29 and moved 1/2 into cash and the other 1/2 into the Latin American fund. I used up the cash component to purchase more units of the precious metals fund this afternoon and hope to have picked it up at under $9/unit (perhaps at $8.50/unit). I am bullish on gold and silver for the latter half of the year and am in it until Joe, Eric(s), Jack, Jim and the likes convert this chat board from that of Novell to Gold and precious metals (kidding around)

The Bre-X debacle is indeed an interesting one. Does it really contain the 70 million oz of Gold ? Is the market cap. of the company really worth $70 billion ? Is the Indo. government behind this ....plotting to take over the Busaung deposit by driving out Bre-X ? Did the Geologist really commit suicide or was he pushed out ? Why did he leave his Rolex watch in the helicopter before jumping to his death ?

My wife tells me that people who suffer from Hepatitas B do not normally commit suicide. So why did he ?

To many questions remain to be answered. At the end, I am hoping that
the Indo. government is to blame.

I don't hold any of the stock and am happy to say that I did not jump on the bandwagon at $15 or $20. I believe that the stock is very speculative and that in the short term and before the next assay results are in (2 - 4 wks), this stock is going to make a lot of $$$ for the brave. I would buy a couple of hundred shares at the current price and just for the excitement. My order is in at $2.00/share and at $2.25.
