In addition, the May 29, 1996 posting in the free TipWorld Email posting of <Computer Industry Gossip> of the Day, demonstrates that Gil Amelio is not sitting still when it comes to promoting the Apple Operating System. The copyrighted message is included below. Apple will continue to rise and will demonstrate that the naysayers are wrong! (Remember when Chrysler supposedly died?)

A BLACK AND WHITE SPOTTED MAC? Your friendly neighborhood seafood has been saying for months that Apple should be courting the likes of Gateway 2000 to build Mac OS clones. Those Gateway girls and boys know a thing or two about building to order, low overhead, and direct sales.
Now it seems that this just might be coming true after all. A year after ex-CEO Michael "Hard Mikey" Spindler nixed the potential cloning deal with Gateway, new Apple CEO Gil "Dealmaker" Amelio has been seen around the Bay area with Gateway head cheese Ted Waitt (no, not the musician/actor, that's Tom Waits!) in tow. Eavesdropping friends of The Crustacean report that the clone deal was the only serious topic the two undertook. These same sources say that a deal will be announced at PCExpo in New York in June.
The Crusty One can hardly wait to see a Mac OS clone when it's pulled out of that signature black and white spotted Gateway carton.
Brings new meaning to the Apple Developer's mascot, the DogCow!
