Sunterra Corporation Appoints Robert (Bob) Childs, III As Senior Vice President, Strategic Alliances

ORLANDO, Fla., Aug. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Sunterra Corporation (NYSE: OWN)
today announced the appointment of Robert (Bob) Childs, III, age 54, to the position of Senior Vice President, Strategic Alliances. Mr. Childs is located in the company's corporate headquarters in Orlando.

In this newly created position Childs will direct the company's development of strategic alliances, new products and the implementation of new product distribution channels.

Since the company's inception in 1990, Sunterra Corporation has rapidly grown to own and/or manage some 118 resorts worldwide. In addition to creating the industry's most diverse network of resorts Sunterra has expanded its owner base from 25,000 to 250,000 families.

Childs, a 22-year timeshare industry veteran joins Sunterra Corporation from Resort Condominiums International (RCI) where he served as Senior Vice President of Global Club Operations and successfully developed a strategic marketing program with Century 21 Real Estate. Prior to his employment with RCI, Childs served as
Vice President of Strategic Alliances for Fairfield Communities, Inc. from 1994-1998. He was responsible for new product concepts, developing relationships with corporations within the hospitality industry and implementing new product distribution channels. Childs also designed the Fairfield Destinations Vacation Club, Resort Residences Vacation Club and Fairfield Cruise and Travel Club.
