Yeah, I was surprised by the Mercer deal, but I haven't seen Fortson at all.

Smith is a great passer with great court vision, but he is too slow to be a pure point guard. He can run the half court, though. I can envision he and Stoudamire teaming up the way he and Mookie teamed up. They can alternate playing point and letting the other come off screens. With Portland's depth, he should be able to play a comfortable number of minutes and save his knees. Schrempf is a great ball handler,too, and, at times the Blazers even had Sabonis setting up the offense from the top of the key.
