It is true that sony and nintendo use RAMBUS. But my impression is
RAMBUS dram is used in video or graphics frame buffer area rather
than main memory, because graphics and video accelerators don't
have cache memory architecture and the high bandwidth of rambus
does bring up significant performance improvement. For a general
purpose of CPU though, relying on the main memory performance is
kind of excuse for the inefficient CPU design. Depending on the
architecture of MAJC rambus may or may not make sense. But certainly
it is interesting to follow the details of MAJC strategy.
