Depends on what you mean by "myths," Christopher. If you mean "idealized distortions" pretending to be "literal truths," I say, get rid of 'em.

And advocating their perpetuation can at times be simply cynical and manipulative. Like the reactionary who used to say: "I am not religious myself; I don't believe in that stuff. But I believe in religion for the masses, because religious belief strengthens social stability."

If you mean "myths" as "ideals" towards which we strive, rather than as realities which we have achieved, then I'm all for 'em.
