Kap,

<The AMD stock action suggests either utter stupidity of investors or more Athlon introduction delays. >

It is possible that it is none of the things that you mention. Athlon launch now seems to be Aug 9th with systems being available no later than Aug 16th.

I think the problem may be on the sales side. If I were to take a hack, I would say that K6 ASPs are currently in the $40+ range with volumes not being that strong. Although the K6 volumes could improve significantly by the time the quarter is over, I am fully expecting AMD to lose laptop and desktop market shares for the next 2 months.

So, the question becomes, will AMD ship enough Athlons to make up for K6 weakness? I think we will get a very good estimate in the next few days.

Ben Anixter went and hyped Flash at BBRS conference and I am pretty amazed by the lack of response from the investment community. I don't think analysts are listening to anything but K7 execution news reports now.

Any alternate thoughts on the subject?

Chuck
