*QCP820 secret signals* It worked!! Now hear this. Telecom New Zealand is to announce today a cdmaOne network for New Zealand.

This will be in the 800MHz range because the Maoris stymied the 2GHz auction. I don't have details yet.

It will be to replace their analogue network which has excellent coverage. They will overlay it one to one, almost certainly. I bet that it will be Ericy supplying the gear from Lusk Boulevard and I have been waiting for this announcement for a couple of months now as regular readers know.

This will be something like a $300m order [just guessing from the cost of the Vodafone network and a few things]. There are objectors to new cellphone towers and in the interests of a rapid buildout to stop Vodafone getting all the customers, they must mover fast.

My little QCP820 which I bought and used out here for a while before sending it back to live in California seems to have done the trick [it was sending secret signals back to San Diego, calling for help = it obviously worked because now all is well].

Have to go celebrate.

PS: Tero, come out, come out, wherever you are. They will be up against the Vodafone GSM network. We'll soon be seeing how well GSM will do. It won't take long to instal since the towers and stuff are already in place.

Maybe by Xmas I'll be using a ThinPhone...Yipppeeeeeeee
