Deja vu for sure! I remember telling my wife I will never let tax consequences deter me from taking profits again......well, I did. When friends asked why I wasn't selling, I would say (in late June/early July) "I can't! It's going up too fast!"; and it was. I have to admit that I fell into the greed game and must still be very much into it because I bought more today. If I sold out tomorrow I would still be way ahead of my expectations, and would be able to say we did very well with our ANCR investment. I, too, believe that this current downdraft is, as you say, a product of manipulation by the "powers that be" for a variety of reasons.
My biggest fear has little to do with the actual money. At this point of such a difficult and excruciating process, I fear looking stupid! I know my friends and associates have started to follow ANCR in the morning paper. They don't know the extent of our new found "wealth", but they are tracking it! They say things like "Wow! You had a bad day yesterday!" I have been such a public advocate of ANCR in our little circle that they all know we have "hung our hat" on ANCR and will be judging the wisdom of our commitment. The truth is that that we will live out a very nice retirement with or without the outcome of this investment, but I just need to justify the inordinate amount of time I (and now WE ) have spent on this endeavor. I have vowed that when we finally sell out I will never own an individual stock again! My chances of catching such a ride as ANCR has provided are more slim than catching a walleye bigger than the 13 pounder that hangs on our wall. With the walleye, my success was dumb luck! This ANCR thing started out that way and grew into an obsession! I am embarrassed to say that I live on a lake and have not fished it once this summer. That is SICK!
So, what does this have to offer to SI ANCR thread? Clearly nothing technical nor illuminating. I just like the opportunity to share with other Ancorites what I am experiencing. I know there are others like me who dare not offer information about our stock, but may be experiencing the same emotional roller coaster. Thanks for your ears!.. I mean eyes!
