Of course - anything broadband wireless access (or reasonably) related that I come across and have time to post will find it's way here.

In that vein, not much discussion here of Nextlink's (and Teligent's) selloff today. Besides the fact that both NextLink and Teligent had recently runup (relative to WinStar) and as such were more susceptible to general market concerns, yesterday's proposal by several Bells
[ news.com
news.excite.com ] generated some speculation by Sanford Bernstein telco analyst Todd Jacobs that CLECs such as NextLink, Teligent and WinStar could be particularly vulnerable to potential erosion of the incumbent regulatory revenue umbrella currently in place.

The argument against this is the high margins and ROC that BBFW players enjoy. In WinStar's case, 10 lines sold achieves capital breakeven, and WCII has been enjoying (an increasing) average penetration of 14 lines per building. I suspect we will see this continue to move higher. But in addition, though this proposal might lower some of the voice revenue umbrella that CLECs enjoy (IF it makes it's way forward, which is questionable), it doesn't address the data revenues and margins, which the incumbents will frankly be unable to compete with BBFW on.

In any case, WinStar has held up well. New and existing owners continuing to get onboard. WCII reports on Aug 10th - today's lines installed number was in line and their onnet's continues to show strength. It's also possible that Office.com will be out by then (or soon thereafter), and promises to be an exciting addition to WinStar's strategy.

[**OT** BTW, any fans of musico Cubano, Ry Cooder and/or Wim Wenders will very much enjoy the recent released documentary on Cooder's acclaimed "Buena Vista Social Club" collaboration. Great music and footage! Also, when I can compress and upload them, a Woodstock photo-gallery link will be found here - it was an outstanding time - IMO - not to be missed]
