FYI: Prudential Securities analyst Luke Szymczak said he started
coverage of 3COM CORP with a hold rating. He said he believes
the network equipment maker remains in "good shape" in the long
run, but it must first work through transitional issues related
to its adapter card business and proposed merger with US
ROBOTICS CORP. He said he believed it would take "a quarter or
so" before the company works through the issues created by
INTEL CORP's move earlier this quarter to cut prices on its
competing line of adapter cards. (Reuters 11:57 AM ET 03/27/97)
