[Conundrum]

<<<should I sell half of my AMTX for tax loss and buy AWRE considering AWRE has the chip yet no product; and AMTX has products but not chip?>>>

Anthony --

A riddle or conjecture, to be sure. Since Aware has no one to blame but themselves for not having product, I think I'll stick with Amati. The only missing link---the chip---is out of their control and once it's ready, they'll be off and running.

But then you knew I'd say that.

By the way, I just listened to Solomon Bros. Technology conf call and Steve Levy their new telecommunications analyst highlighted the increased use of inter/intranets. He was formerly with Oppenheimer where as USRX analyst he tied AMTX/TI/USRX together. The key driver in his sector would be increased competition in the carrier business, he said. The ISPs, CLECs, RBOCs, and long distance guys would all either be building or upgrading networks in their rush to compete with one another and therefore would need new equipment. Not exactly late-breaking news, but, it should please those who only take their opinions from the ordained.

Not so incidentally, Levy's been following Amati since before it merged with ICOT. In fact, indirectly he influenced my early opinion of the company as much if not more than anyone else. Now let's hope he does the same at Solomon.

Regards,

Pat
